About Dr. Michael Vallis

Photo from: Behaviour Change InstituteDr. Vallis is a registered Psychologist at Capital Health and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. He is an Associate Professor in Psychiatry and Adjunct Professor in Psychology. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario, London and his main focus is in adult healthy psychology, with a clinical emphasis on diabetes, gastroenterology, cardiovascular risk and obesity. He developed the CDHA Behaviour Change Institute. The institute offers health care providers training and support in working with patients and clients who could benefit from assistance in changing unhealthy behaviour patterns. They have a training program for lifestyle counseling skills for physicians, nurses, dieticians and other healthcare providers.  Continue reading

He is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology at the University of Alberta. He is also a Medical Scientist of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) steering committee member and Chair of the International OMERACT Soluble Biomarker Working Group, a member of the Canadian Arthritis Network Centres of Excellence, executive member of the Assessments of Spondyloarthritis International Society (ASAS), the Scientific Chair of the Alberta Rheumatoid Arthritis and Pharmacovigilance Program and Outcomes Research in Therapeutics (RAPPORT) committee, and a Principal Investigator and Executive Board member of the Spondyloarthritis Research Consortium of Canada (SPARCC).
