Et c’est également vrai dans le contexte de la pandémie de COVID-19. Si vous souffrez d’ARTHROSE, voici ce que vous devez savoir : Les personnes souffrant d’arthrose qui présentent des facteurs de risque, comme le fait d’avoir plus de 60 ans ou de souffrir de graves comorbidités sous-jacentes, telles que le diabète, les maladies cardiovasculaires ou l’obésité, devraient suivre les conseils de Santé Canada quant aux mesures supplémentaires à prendre pour se tenir à l’écart d’autres personnes, notamment en restant chez elles autant que possible et en évitant les foules, en particulier dans les espaces mal ventilés. Pour réduire le risque d’exposition au COVID-19, les recommandations de Santé Canada (voir le lien ci-dessous) sont sensiblement les mêmes que dans le cas de la grippe. Il s’agit notamment des mesures suivantes : Lavez-vous les mains souvent avec de l’eau et du savon pendant au moins 20 secondes, surtout après avoir été aux toilettes et lors de la préparation des aliments Utilisez un désinfectant pour les mains à base d’alcool si vous n’avez pas accès à de l’eau et du savon Évitez tout contact étroit avec des gens malades. Dans le cas de la pandémie actuelle de COVID-19, les patients atteints d’une forme auto-immune d’arthrite sont confrontés à de nombreuses préoccupations et questions, notamment en ce qui concerne les médicaments qu’ils prennent, comme les biologiques (d’origine/biosimilaires), les thérapies à base de petites molécules cibles telles que les inhibiteurs de JAK, les stéroïdes et les médicaments anti-rhumatismaux modificateurs de la maladie (DMARD) conventionnels, tels que le méthotrexate. Ces médicaments sont essentiels pour prévenir l’aggravation de la forme auto-immune d’arthrite dont souffre un patient. Si vous êtes un patient, vous savez que si vous cessez de prendre ces médicaments, vous pourriez avoir une poussée de votre maladie. En ce qui concerne l’effet de ces médicaments sur une éventuelle infection à coronavirus, nos spécialistes et les autorités sanitaires n’en savent pas encore suffisamment pour donner des conseils formels aux patients. Les experts de la recherche sur l’arthrite ne disposent tout simplement pas encore de données spécifiques sur la COVID-19 chez les patients atteints d’une forme auto-immune d’arthrite et ne connaissent pas actuellement le taux et la gravité de l’infection chez les patients atteints d’une de ces maladies chroniques. Nous savons par contre que vous devez consulter votre rhumatologue ou un autre professionnel de la santé si vous envisagez d’arrêter ou de réduire votre traitement pour le moment. Seule votre équipe de soins de santé comprend votre maladie spécifique, vos antécédents médicaux et votre plan de traitement actuel. Voici ce que les patients devraient faire : Si vous avez pris un rendez-vous de routine chez votre rhumatologue, il serait judicieux de lui demander si celui-ci est essentiel ou s’il peut être reporté sans risque. Si vous présentez des symptômes tels que fièvre, toux persistante, essoufflement, fatigue, douleurs ou complications comme une pneumonie, vous devrez peut-être subir un test de dépistage du coronavirus. Si ces symptômes sont présents, vous devez suivre les conseils de Santé Canada pour l’accès aux soins de santé. Là encore, il s’agit d’une décision à prendre avec votre rhumatologue ou le prestataire de soins de santé qui supervise votre traitement contre l’arthrite. Si vous prenez des médicaments pour d’autres maladies ou affections chroniques et que vous avez des questions relatives à la COVID-19, parlez-en au membre de votre équipe de soins qui vous les a prescrits, comme votre dentiste, votre médecin de famille ou un autre médecin spécialiste. Essayez de trouver des activités que vous aimez faire mais que vous n’avez pas faites par manque de temps; vous pourriez vous adonner à un nouveau passe-temps que vous aviez pensé faire un jour, choisir un « best-seller » que vous vouliez lire ou apprendre à faire un « FaceTime » avec un membre de votre famille ou un ami de longue date. Essayez de pratiquer la pleine conscience; essayez de garder vos pensées « dans l’instant présent » plutôt que de penser au pire de la situation actuelle. Cela ne diminue pas la nécessité d’être préparé, mais de temps à autre, cela peut aider à occuper l’esprit.
