The twentieth episode of Arthritis Consumer Experts’ #ArthritisAtHome features Cristina Montoya, a Registered Dietitian, on nutrition, vitamins and the immune system during COVID-19 and what people with autoimmune arthritis need to know. #WellnessWednesday
During cold season, flu season and even this “Covid-19 season”, people living with arthritis may be interested in taking supplements or vitamins to boost their immune system. However, for people living with autoimmune forms of arthritis, this may not be the best idea. Cristina myth-busts some popular immune boosting products and/or practices and suggests foods and nutrients that can help people with autoimmune diseases stay healthy.
Cristina is a member in good standing with the College of Ontario, Dietitians of Canada, and the Arthritis Health Professions Association. As a patient advocate living with rheumatoid arthritis and Sjögren’s Syndrome, Cristina participates in the Durham Region Sjögren’s Syndrome Support Group from the Sjögren’s Society of Canada as well as the Online Consumer Panel from the Arthritis Society.
